Project Approach with Technology Transfer in Pharma & Biotech APIs
The pharmaceutical and biotech industries are constantly developing new drugs, medical devices, and dietary supplements and bringing them to market. Demand for such new products often arises in countries that are not part of the primary business focus of the manufacturers developing them.
Glatt Process & Plant Engineering Pharma+Biotech frequently receives inquiries regarding the design and construction of production facilities for such new products. In such cases, a product owner (pharmaceutical company) must be identified and persuaded to collaborate — one that is willing to grant a license and support the technology transfer.
Dirk Steinhäuser, Glatt Process & Plant Engineering Pharma + Biotech and Vice Head of Glatt Ingenieurtechnik Dresden office, will provide an overview of the project development approach for this type of project, which requires a technology transfer and a licensing partner (licensor). Basic requirements and procedures will be explained, the principles of the three-party project approach will be presented, and the cornerstones of a technology transfer agreement (TTA) will be outlined. The impact on project phases and the project schedule will be examined, as will the necessary decisions, milestones, and obligations for the successful completion of such complex projects.
